Blood fluke Aporocotyle theragrae Found from the Omentum of marine fishes (Theragra chalcogramma) in Korea

Abstract
|
|
|
In this study, Aporocot ale theragrae is different in body size, shape, esophageal length, number of testes, and shape of ovary from those of other previous investigators.
Specific characters of Aporocotyle theragrae as followings:
Its body is redish brown fusiform and 6.57 x 2.4 mm of size. Its surface is covered with fan.shped minute spines. Esophagus is 0.90mm of length. The anterior limp of H-shaped intestine is 0.61mm of length, and approximately a thirds of length of posterior limb. Testes are irregular and 132 in intracecal space. The cirrus pouch is retort-like shape, and in the left lower part of the body. Ovary is the ovoid form, 0.358 x 048 mm of size, and at the posterior body space. Eggs are thin shalled ovoid or elliptical, and 30-34 x 20"23 ¥ìm of size.
From the results mentioned above, it is thought that Aporocotyle theragrae may be the first report in Korea.
